"Set on the site of the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, Nightingale Quarter, covering more than 18.5 acres, is one of the largest city centre regeneration sites in the UK, breathing new life into Derby. The site - bringing 800 properties, including 125 luxury two and three-bedroom homes alongside a collection of apartments - will be a ‘green oasis’ for residents and will include cycle routes, an open-air gym and fitness area, and children’s play areas.
The construction of a primary and nursery school serving the new homes at Nightingale Quarter has also recently been announced.Steeped in history, the development is named after nurse Florence Nightingale, who was an adviser on the redesign and management of the hospital in the 1860s, and has been sympathetically designed to retain as much of its heritage as possible.
The infirmary’s iconic Victorian ‘pepper pot’ buildings will be restored allowing them to continue to be major landmarks of the city but converted for community use, with residents having access to facilities include a café, gym and exhibition space."
